The annoying calendar

No lab-leak claim. No “Moderna did it” claim. Just a public-source timeline where the dates keep standing too close together in the elevator.

Exhibit A

November 2025, circled twice.

Two dates, two days apart. One is a stock chart. One is a surveillance spreadsheet. Neither proves anything. Both are on the board.

November 2025Epi weeks 44–48
Thu Nov 20 — Moderna Analyst Day. Same day as $MRNA’s lowest close of the 2025–26 window, ~$22.36 (Nov 19: ~$24.18). Volume elevated, ~18.6M shares.
Sat Nov 22 — PAHO epidemiological week 47 ends. That data window later became the Dec 19 hantavirus alert: 229 cases, 59 deaths.
Best bullpost frame

The entire thesis fits in a tweet, which is exactly why it needs a source stack. Every line below is individually true. The vibe they make together is not evidence.

paho's hantavirus data window closed nov 22

moderna already had a hantavirus mrna program

argentina later becomes the andes virus story

not saying anything

just an annoying calendar
Fine print. The intraday low was actually Nov 21 (~$22.28), and that day closed back at ~$23.72. “Lowest close” is the precise phrase. Be precise; it’s cheaper than lawyers.

VIC-K supplied hantavirus antigen sequence information; Moderna supplied mRNA material made from it. VIC-K ran antigen expression studies and planned preclinical work.

Argentina pilot loses its funding

Per Scientific American, the Trump administration eliminated funding for a group (WAC-EID, part of CREID) whose Argentina pilot studied the type of hantavirus later behind the cruise outbreak. Roughly $100,000 likely dedicated to the Argentina study.

Claim ladder

The timeline is spicy. We stamped it anyway.

Every claim in the rabbit hole, graded against the evidence matrix. Timing goes on the board. Causation stays in the drawer.

Analyst Day audit

We read the slides so you don’t have to.

Official press release, presentation and transcript, searched. The company that supposedly knew everything spent its big day talking about flu shots and cost cuts.

Verified
Zero hantavirus.

No hits for “hantavirus,” “USAMRIID” or “Army.” No substantive mention of Korea. No exact mention of “mRNA Access.”

Moderna IR ↗
Verified
What it did say.

Seasonal franchise (COVID, RSV, flu, flu/COVID combo, norovirus), early vaccines (CMV, EBV, Lyme), individualized neoantigen therapy with Merck, and rare disease (propionic and methylmalonic acidemia).

Weak signal
Generic biodefense language.

Manufacturing-partnership talk around national security, biodefense and “future pandemic threats.” That is boilerplate in every vaccine deck since 2020.

Do not claim
“The bottom proves they knew.”

A stock bottoming on a cost-cutting day is the least mysterious thing in this dossier.

Caption desk

Say this. Not that.

Left column survives a fact-check. Right column survives nothing, including a group chat with one nurse in it.

Safe wording

  • “Moderna had a hantavirus mRNA program before the MV Hondius outbreak.”
  • “Moderna’s Nov 20 Analyst Day coincided with its lowest closing stock price.”
  • “PAHO’s late-2025 hantavirus alert used a data window ending around Nov 22.”
  • “Argentina and the Southern Cone were already showing elevated hantavirus activity.”
  • “Argentina labs later handled diagnostics and source investigation.”
  • “No proven connection. Weird enough to put on the board.”

Do not say

  • “Moderna knew the outbreak was coming.”
  • “Argentina labs released Andes virus.”
  • “This was gain-of-function.”
  • “The stock bottom proves insider knowledge.”
context

Scary words, normal science

Minigenome and reverse-genetics systems, pseudotyped surrogate viruses, animal models, antigen expression, nanoparticle immunogens, rodent ecology. All of it sounds like a movie trailer. None of it, by itself, is evidence of gain-of-function, engineering or release.

Reverse genetics primer ↗
do not claim

“It came from a lab.”

No verified evidence of gain-of-function, engineering, deliberate release or lab origin was found. Andes virus is endemic in South America and lives in rodents. The boring explanation has a head start.
